Vacancy at Nigeria SACE via USAID



Nigeria SACE is a five-year program funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through


a contract with Chemonics International. It aims to strengthen civil society’s ability to influence the development and implementation of key democratic reforms at the national, state, and local levels. SACE will support increased engagement and efficacy of civil society to be able to influence public institutions whose function it is to serve citizens’ interests. SACE explicitly aims to engage marginalized populations, such as women, youth, and the disabled in the process and emphasize the importance of leadership and innovation. In delivering on this work, the project approach builds on existing learning around effective Voice and Accountability work and capacity building that delivers results. The project adopted the use of the innovative and groundbreaking System for Transformation and Results (STAR) Methodology as well as a focus on Innovation. The project has already hired the role of a Capacity Building and Partnerships Advisor to provide prtrnarv interface with its sixteen core partners and over 200cluster members and collaborators.



Senior CSO Institutional Strengthening Specialist



 



Job Descriptions
The project now seeks to hire a Senior CSO Institutional Strengthening Specialist to strengthen the work using the STAR
Methodology to build the 2.0 capacities of partners (capacity that yields results). Working with the project’s key technical partner, Root Change, and the existing project team the post-holder will be responsible for overseeing technical application of the range of tools in the STAR methodology, providing ‘deep’ coaching (with support from the Capacity Building and Partnerships Advisor) and strategic and technical analysis of the results of the STAR Tool Suite, both for the development of appropriate support for partners as well as providing analytics of key metrics that enable the project to report against key indicators to partners. S/he will be responsible for working with Root Change to refine and devise training in support ofthe elements related to the STAR Suite as well as supporting other training and capacity building activities for CSO coalitions, networks and BMOs, working with the Capacity Building and Partnerships Advisor. This is a full time post based in Abuja.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, law, and development studies and preferably have a relevant post-graduate qualification. S/he must have at least ten (10) years. of demonstrated experience in the successful Implementation of organizational and institutional capacity building (and demonstrate understanding of key capacity building approaches as well as monitoring and evaluation) in the context of development projects and of working with civil society organizations and networks, coalitions, alliances and/or clusters. The candidate will have a sound understanding of Gender and Social Inclusion as well as prior training, facilitation and, ideally, coaching and mentoring skills. With strong analytical skills, s/he will have the ability to understand and interpret data using sound methodological approaches and manipulation of statistical data. Sound IT skills with an ability to develop graphical information to aid understanding and interpretation. S/he must have excellent communication skills, including interpersonal and in written and oral English. The project will provide training on the STAR Methodology.
