How to Write Your Resume Professionally

If you really want the job of your choice, you need to write a good resume. Understanding and learning how to write your resume is important even before you begin looking out for a job. It is of essence that you draft a professional resume so that you positively get a call for an interview. Do not underrate the value of a good resume. Resumes should be created so that they add value to our qualifications and work experience. A good resume is a reflection of our personality and skills. A curriculum vitae explains our capabilities and it is like marketing your skills and work experience. Hence, without a good resume you would be no where in the race.

How do we judge whether a particular resume is better that its counterpart? The success of a resume depends on how well it has been written. Some key factors which play an important role in deciding your future is as follows:

1) Proper formatting

The most important criterion which one should bear in mind is that of formatting. The resume should be formatted well. Many clients get totally put off if the format does not look good to the eyes. Make sure that all the important aspects of your education and work experience are properly formatted and included in the resume. Your resume should not run into pages. As far as possible, stick to one single page and keep the font size as 12 and in Times Roman. Avoid colored papers and other fonts like italics and bold. Italics are a total no when it comes to drafting a resume. Italics can be used only on the header and not the entire resume.

2) Objective

The objective which is stated on the top of the resume is a very important factor. Do not misjudge it. The objective needs to be brief and precise. Do not juggle with words. There has to be a distinct correlation between the objective stated and your abilities and work history. The objective has to be a clear representation of your personality. Objectives which are well set catch the attention of the hiring agents. Hence, objective is a qualifying factor and gives them an idea of what you are looking out for. It makes things easier for the hiring agent and your resume is sure to be on the top ten resumes.

3) Work History

Your work history would play an important role and it also decides your candidature. Take a look at the list of abilities portrayed in your last job. The resume cannot be like a job description. It should be a reflection of your abilities. The duties listed out should clearly demonstrate that you have been a great asset to your previous company. Choosing powerful and apt words like organized, created and provided leadership would be well appreciated by the hiring agent.
