SYSTEM ENGINEER

JOB DESCRIPTION

Systems Engineer is responsible to build out, maintain, and troubleshoot the rapidly expanding Information Technology infrastructure including but not limited to in-house and Rackspace hosted servers, applications and storage.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.

Setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software, validating and implementing critical system patches, and allocating mass storage space.

Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.

Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.

Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.

Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.

Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.

Administer, monitor and maintain in-house hosted and cloud hosted applications, servers and storage.

Analyze system faults, troubleshoot and runs diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems.

Configure, implement and operate domain name controllers. − Provide 2nd and 3rd level support.

Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

Handle and maintain a Tier III datacenter infrastructure and operations.

Upgrading servers to latest stable firmware releases and applying patches.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or any other related discipline.

Minimum of 5 years experience in Windows Server support and administration.

Minimum of 3 years in cloud hosting, cloud storage and Rackspace servers and applications.

Windows Active Directory deployment and administration. − Microsoft Exchange Server deployment and administration.

Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux based environments.

Symantec, Trend Micro, Sophos, Kaspersky and/or MacAfee anti-virus − Backup Exec, Windows/NT Backup, Symantec Server Backup Exec.

Internet/TCIP/IP, DNS/E-mail/communication issues

Strong knowledge in Citrix, SharePoint, Microsoft Navision, Intego

Significant experience with major enterprise level database (Oracle, DB2, Sybase, SQL Server).

Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks. − Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)

Strongly familiar with Tier III Datacenter infrastructure and operations.

NETWORK ENGINEER

SUMMARY

Network Engineer is responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, installing, and supporting the company’s Information Technology Network subsystemincludingbutnot limited to LANs, WANs, ISP, intranet systems, and network segments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Install and support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems. Design and implementation of new network solutions and improving resilience of the current environment.

Install and maintain network hardware and software.

Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to specific users. Determine network and system requirements.

Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security.

Ensure network connectivity throughout the company’s LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations.

Perform network IP address assignment and VLAN distribution. Assign routing protocols and routing table configuration.

Capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within datacenters.

Configuration of hosted IP voice services.

QUALIFICATIONS

CCNA and or CCNP Certification.

Minimum of 5 years experience in network design and support in Cisco networking environment, including expert knowledge of TCP/IP and working hands on knowledge eof Routing and Ethernet Switching in IPv4 and IPv6 addressing and subnetting.

Minimum of 2 years experience in firewall and network security solutions: CISCO ASA, IDS, IPS, Filtering, CISCO VPN, and Cyberoam.

Hands on experience implementing and administering network devices, setting and maintaining policies and rights/security within the environment: CISCO MCU, CISCO WLC, and CISCO AP.

Extensive skills designing, configuring and troubleshooting enterprise routing protocols, QoS policies and priority queuing, and network flow management.

Demonstrated strong infrastructure design, configuration and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to prioritize and multitask.

Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Experience with Cabling Plants.

Strong project management skills required.

Strong understanding of the OSI Interconnect model and how it relates to the design and deployment of structured networks required.

Ability to handle multiple projects required.

Good Visio skills are required.

Technical & Project Implementation presentations may be periodically required.

Coordinate routine checks on 2G/ 3G RAN capacity resource utilization (CEs, Channel Cards, Licences on Node Bs, RNCs) and ensuring same does not impact KPIs

Drive optimal resource utilization and allocation

Develop Network Performance standard specification and provide reports on Network –Business impact assessment

Network Performance diagnosis, analysis and evolution trending for proactive planning and strategic agenda setting

Network Utilization analysis to ensure optimal resource CAPEX deployment

Ensure tests and procedures are carried out, evaluated and properly understood and ensure product modifications are investigated.

Providing regular independent performance reports to Management, Group and the Regulators indicating actual levels ofkey Performance Indicators (KPIs) (Voice, Data, ISM, Rollout reporting etc).

To provide an internal Network Quality and Audit function allowing independent and objective performance analysis of the network and its impact on the business including commercial promotion/activity impact analysis

Coordinate routine parameter Audit and consistency checks on PS and Ss Core nodes (including QoS and PCRF application audit)

Monitor PS and CS Core NE with the aim of identifying poor performance and escalating/follow up on Partners/other departments to improve.

Desired Skills and Experience
Education:

Fluent in English and language of country preferable

First degree in electrical/electronic Engineering

Master’s degree in a relevant discipline added advantage

Experience:

10 years’ work experience, including:

experience in 2G and 3G planning and/or Operations

It has accordingly, incorporated AETI Power Systems and Controls Limited to undertake these projects.

LINEMAN

JOB DETAILS

The appointee will be reporting to the General Manager, and must be a hands-on individual withextensive technically sound experience as a lineman in a power distribution sub-station.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Patrol and clear fault on 11kv or 33kv feeder and overhead lines

Work with cables and conduit to perform maintenance on outside plant equipment.

Install lines and cables (including fiber) using construction equipment to dig holes for pole Erection.

Work outside as part of a team performing installation, maintenance and repair of overhead lines.

Inspect previously installed infrastructure to make sure it’s working properly.

Involve in overhead lines construction, maintenance and repairs

Erecting of removal of poles for installations

Work on cable Up riser either mounting for connections or dropping for repairs

QUALIFICATIONS

OND in Electrical Electronics Engineering

2-5 years relevant Experience

SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret electrical circuit

Electrical troubleshooting skills

Pole climbing

PROTECTION AND CONTROL METERING TECHNICIAN

JOB DETAILS

The appointee will be reporting to the General Manager, and must be a hand-on individual withextensive technically sound experience as a protection and control metering technician in a power distribution sub-station.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Protective relay installation.

Control metering installation.

Test Equipment Handling

Fault locating on power cable

Fault diagonizing on power Electricity system

Meter installation, reading and data collection

QUALIFICATIONS

OND/HND in Electrical Electronics Engineering.

3-5 years relevant Experience.

Graduate membership of a professional engineering body and registration with COREN is an added advantage.
